Updated Danish dictionary
We’ve just updated our Danish dictionary (based on The Concise Danish Dictionary). More than 50000 words have been added, many of which are missing forms of existing words.
We’re aware that there are other sources that may provide a better suited Danish dictionary (Dansk Sprognævn for instance), and we are evaluating options.
Yay 😀
Hello
Well, hello? 😀
I am trying to play with my daughter but opening Wordfeud gives me the message Protocol Error Unexpected token wnated and the a number of signs like ( ) true false null STRING NUMBER. What is wrong
Havde samme problem.
Årsagen var snyde programmet Wordfeud Analyzer. Det er ikke helt fint i kanten. Lægger en form for virus ind.
Slettede Analyzer samt wordfeud. Og måtte så gen instalerer wordfeud.
Derpå ingen problemer.
Had the same problem.
The reason was cheating program Wordfeud Analyzer. It’s a bad program Adds a form of virus into your phone.
Deleted Analyzer and wordfeud. And then had to re install wordfeud.
Then no problem.
Jeg gjorde det samme men den skriver stadig den der besked? Nogen som ved hva man så gør?
I did the same But i still get the message, anyone Got a solution?
I am having the same problem and have tried to reinstall Wordfeud a number of times but it doesn’t help!!!! I do not have the Analyzer app installed. Any suggestions what to do???
Jubiiii! 🙂
Nice thanks m8
Bravo
Please please please port to webOS HD for the Touchpad.
Greit! 🙂
Fantastic! Really looking forward to it!
Fino 🙂 – Så kan jeg måske få lov til at KAJAKKE ! ;-))
Det er da vist noget af en tilsnigelse. Vil du så fx også sige at “traktorere” hvis du kører traktor?
Any plans for a Qt (Symbian and the Nokia N9) yet?
I hope so! Qt for Nokia N9,
Great!
I just ended a game, where when we started playing it, I wasn’t able to ad the letter “n” to the word “rene”, but after the update I was, and it was the last word i spelled in the game (wich i won of course):-)
Some suggestion on future upgrades of the game:
1. Statistics: i would like to know myself, how many games I’ve played, how many I’ve won/lost and maybe an average score. (Don’t know if i need a worldwide scoreboard, that only leads to cheating)
2. 4 player games like in real scrabble.
3. The ability to remove a game at any time, if the opponent doesn’t respond (and no moves has been done yet)
4. 72 hours is a long time for a response. Maybe give some more options when starting the game like 10 minutes, 1 hour, 24 hour and 72 hours
5. the ability to take a screenshot of your game (no easy option if you play on an android phone)
That’s it for now.. otherwise great game!!
You have the ability to take screenshots with androids as well. Some of them need an app to handle it though.
How’s that possible on NON-rooted phones? (eg. the majority of phones in use)
Dear inventor of Wordfeud:
The post by “Thomas” from 29 October 2011 is full of excellent ideas – my thoughts exactly!
It must be easy to become a millionaire by developing an App when you get the ideas served for free;-)
By the way: HÅRVOKS is a real word. The dictionary does not think so…
The NO and DK dictionaries you are using now are “protected” under GPL, which means that we as third parties should be able to receive your source code. From my understanding, you’ve implemented it server-side, but that means we should get your server-side source code if we want?
/Hans
@Hans J: The GPL states that if you distribute software that uses GPL-licensed code, you also have to provide the source code for your software. As you have rightly guessed, the dictionaries are only used by the server application. As we don’t distribute the server application, we don’t have to release its source code.
Så den gik ikke, Hans H.
Hans J selvfølgelig.. 🙂 Fordømte lille iPhonetastatur..
Thank you! 🙂
suggestion for next version

Ik heb geen idee wat jullie zeggen
And i have no idead why theres so many Dutch comments, many which make no sense at all.
Can I buy a copy of the dictionary? I find it funny the dictionary includes abbreviations and names, I verily like to have a look of what is in and what is not in the dictonary. Great program anyway, I love it.
Well. I am having trouble understanding why Dansk Sprognævn isn’t used. It is the only valid dictionary there is. It is so by danish law, hence only words found in the Dansk Sprognævn dictionary are considered actual danish words. The current is regrettably massively flawed and erroneous.
Another request: Log in and out-function. Push notice in-game (when playing two games simultaneously, you only get updates on currently shown board.
I’m curious if you’re working for a version to Windows Phone? I sure hope so, as many people will invest in the new Nokia Lumia 800 and HTC Titan.
Wordfeud own
Would be much appreciated. I am playing with a lot of friends at work
At work? … so when do you work then?
Great to see this change. The dictionary did indeed improve, but still far from covering all cases of all words. It takes sone, soner but not sones. Sluge but not slug. Stuff like that, cases and deflections you really except it to eat, it doesn’t. Sure hope the dictionary can get an update, every game has the problem that the word should be taken and would be in any normal scrabble game, but isn’t here.
Still, super fun, having a good time with my colleagues at work and purchased the premium version after getting annoyed with too many ad popups each day 🙂
This dictionary has so many problems that playing becomes guessing rather than thinking. The imperative form of most words is missing and there are a bunch of abbreviations that should not be allowed to play (fx, pc, cg off the top of my head). Would you please consider switching to an official dictionary?
“The Concise Danish Dictionary” (http://da.speling.org/) is by no means an authorized, official dictionary, it is an Open Source Linux Project which is very noble and sympathetic. Still it seems to offer incomplete grammatical inflections, which are quite essential for the game in danish.
The dictionary is lacklustre. It is all there is, because the official Retskrivningsordbogen is mired in copyright shit with the publisher, Alinea. They said something about the dictionary being publicly available in 2013. Progress and technology? Not for danes. Bureaucracy and backwardness? Thats us!
I miss imperativ very much!
And why have a limit for how many you play with?
Fx I play with the same person in both Danish, English and Spanish this takes space for 3 persons – but is only one
I.e free limit for players – I’m 62 years old and not at work any more and have the time to handle this
Hah. It does not accept the word “Nært”. I mean come on.
Awesome, HUGE addict, and especially with a better danish.
By the way, I run a blog where I get ideas, and I got a… kinda freaky idea for wordfeud Wordfeud version 2.0 maybe
Ranking please… base it on avg. word score over time.. easy so easy to implement, so cool to have.
and select age groups. unfair playing adult against youth.
Still lots of comon danish words are missing.
A few examples:
Danmark – which are the danish spelling of Denmark
Henvise – danish for refer
Henvises
Henvisning
Henviser
Henvis
and lots more to come 🙂
“Danmark” is in the dictionary, but not “danmark”. I gues that Wordfeud is consulting the dictionary for “danmark” and not for “Danmark”.
Wordfeud accepterer ikke ordet peru. Det findes faktisk i ordbogen, men selvfølgelig stavet med stort begyndelsbogstav. Mon ikke de store bogstaver skal skrives om til små i ordbogen for at Wordfeud kan genkende dem?
In English:
I have experienced that (the danish) Wordfeud does not accept the word “PERU”. It is is in fact contained in the danish dictionary, but written with initial capital. Maybe the danish dictionary rather should use only small lettes?
Mangler gennemgående muligheden for genitiv-s på substantiver. Men fedt spil!
It could be cool with a “Word add suggestion button” or the opposite “word/abbr removal suggestion button”
Compilation of suggestions for advanced gameplay:
1. Statistics. Wins, losses, points, highscore etc.
2. Get your own dictionary server!
3. Word suggestion function.
4. Word approval/rejection function.
5. Multiplay.
6. Serverside wordlist adding function.
Words like ræv (Fox) and mc (abbr for motercycle club or microphone controller) missing
Even though the last is an English abbr it’s still a Danish word/abbr
The obvious solution to the dictionary problem:
If a word is not accepted by the dictionary, the other player should be asked whether he/she can accept the word. If yes, it remains ón the board.
Another idea is to show the value of words put on the board before you press play for easy evaluation of which option to choose.
I agree that this is the best suggestion for the time being. The opponent should be empowered to approve or refuse a word. In fact you could just add an option to play without a dictionary and the game would be much better for most of us 🙂
I am like many rather competitive. So – after i while playing i now consider stopping playing the game as i cannot progress or measure my own performance. PLEASE do add a simple statistics (won / lost) ….
Wordfeud is a lot of fun but you need to upgrade the dictionary some more. There are so many words it does not recognise and so many none existing words it accepts! It is annoying to pay for such low quality.
How about crowdsourcing the updates on the danish dictionary? Sure there will be some mistakes, but im pretty certain most of it will be ok
Great game, btw. Very addictive!
The word skosål is missing!!!!!
That isn’t part of the danish dictionary. Check it yourself first in this dictionary: http://www.retskrivning.dk/ro/ro.htm
Came across a word missing in the danish dictionary (+ its different endings):
Hundepote (danish for a dog paw)
Hundepoter
Hundepoten
Hundepoterne
That isn’t part of the danish dictionary. Check it yourself first in this dictionary: http://www.retskrivning.dk/ro/ro.htm
Vil bare lige give mit besyv med – please få en dansker med på udviklingen;-)
Ikke bare en dansker. Men en dansker der kan stave!
🙂
Når man ser hvordan folk generelt staver efterhånden, vil det ikke løse problemet.
Jeg personligt ville ikke gøre jer mere glade for spillet.. 😀
Please add all the missing words.
Many are missing (and they are all in my updated dictionary)
W is missing!
It ought to be a possibility that the opponent accepts or rejects the word. In that way its up to the players to check the official dictionary. A database could then save the suggested words and add them when they have been accepted in say 100 different games.
