Updated Danish dictionary

October 28, 2011

We’ve just updated our Danish dictionary (based on The Concise Danish Dictionary). More than 50000 words have been added, many of which are missing forms of existing words.

We’re aware that there are other sources that may provide a better suited Danish dictionary (Dansk Sprognævn for instance), and we are evaluating options.

I totally agree with Sia. It is really annoying to find a genious word like “Ødslet” and then being told that you can’t use it. PLEASE CHANGE THE DICTIONARY AND/OR THE GAME ASAP!!!!! It could be so much fun.

    • Whoever edits and puhelsbis these articles really knows what they’re doing.

You still miss most of the danish cities

Navne og stednavne bør IKKE være en del af ordbogen til scrabble – det er de heller ikke på engelsk

Any chance for an update from Wordfeud on choosing/developing a different Danish dictionary – or implementing any of the suggested workarounds?
As stated at http://dsn.dk/sproghjaelp/retskrivningsordbogen/nyt-retskrivningsordbogen-2012#elektroniske-udgaver-og-tilg it should (well, at least could) be possible to reach an agreement concerning use of an XML-version of the officially acknowledged Danish dictionary….

Great. You can’t write “tæm”. Like, tame. Cities, proper names are not part of scrabble. You can’t write IRAN but IRANIAN should be ok. Nor should abbrieviations, but Wordfeud happily swallows KG, PC, CL, CG etc. But not CA. Quite inconsistent.

Great game – very addictive, although the much discussed dictionary problem quickly becomes a nuisance. A few suggestions:

    1. Next to the random layout option, provide an option for a blank layout without extra points. Rights now, players focus more on getting extra points than on finding the best words.
    2. Save personal statistics of total number of won and lost games.
